A weekend in Oslo

Is there a better place to be a music lover than in Oslo right now? Here's just a sample weekend in the spring of 2018.

Friday the legendary vocalist group The Blind Boys of Alabama visited Cosmopolite and put on a great show for the enthusiastic crowd.

Knut Reiersrud joined them, but in a rare instance, Reiersrud was not the highlight of the night.

On Saturday Band of Gold invited to release concert of their 2nd album "Where's the Magic". It's turned out to be a critically acclaimed, funky indie-pop album created by some of the best musicians in Scandinavia. See the photos from the release concert over at Flickr (shot by Johannes Andersen).

The Sunday started off with Classic Album Sunday at Kulturhuset. Kent Erland Holme invited to a session listening to the album The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave.

Not only a great listening session, but the host Kent Erland Holme has invited Awsa to share anecdotes and impressions from her time as backing vocalist.

Then later over at Grønland, Kampen Jazz put the legendary Arild Andersen on stage with the as-talented Christian Meaas Svendsen for a treat of a double-bass duo concert.

Svendsen was not shy to challenge the living legend Edvardsen.

And as always on a Sunday, finishing off the week or messing up the Monday, Frank Znort Orchestra held three long sets with 20 musicians at the stage of Blå by Akerselva. All for free.
