Starting the day at Buzz-scenen in Spikersuppa. The stage hosts the Nordic showcase, featuring young and up-n-coming artists. Today I caught South African Nyimbo ya Bantu.

Abdullah Ibrahim

The next up was another South African, Abdullah Ibrahim, in Universitetets Aula.

After a 70 minute unbroken concert he received an standing ovation from the sold-out Universitetet's Aula.

Jaga Jazzist

Over at the newest stage in this festival, Sentralen, Jaga Jazzist played in the marmor hall.

Jaga is an experimental jazz band from Tønsberg. The band was formed in 1994 and core members are the brothers and the main songwriters, Lars and Martin Horntveth.

Sentralen and the marmor hall was originally used by a local bank. It has recently been converted to a cultural institution with several stages.

Megalodon Collective

At Herr Nielsen, Megalodon Collective crammed seven musicians at the stage for a great and loud performance.

The septet is based in Trondheim, with Norwegian and Swedish musicians.

The band members all have a background from the jazz program at Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and are sentral on the Trondheim jazz scene.

Mathias Eick - Midwest

Mathias Eick performed the Midwest-project with a quintet at Victoria teater.

Eick is a multi instrumentalist, but the trumpet is his main instrument. He's received awards for his musical skills both in Norway and internationally.
